inspiring book about a prodigious athletic talent that approached life with humility and compassion. while not without his flaws, payton was a man who never took the easy way out and earned every ounce of his legacy ... 'sweetness' as he was fondly known is one of my favorite all-time sports figures for good reason.

Probably my favorite athlete of all time, and I appreciated the things I learned about his charity work and his life outside of football. I'm not crazy about how it is written. It is mostly transcribed interviews of Payton, his family, and those that knew him but seems to get a bit repetitive and turns him into a god among men (it is a biography after all, haha). Though I'm a huge fan, I'm going to look for a more critical biography because the man is better than the legend.

the reason i choose this book is because i love walter payton as a big big bears fan he is my favorite all time chicago bear and one of my favoite player and i just wanted to learn more about his life and learn things that i never knew about him before. this book is a biogarphy of his life they do it as like an interveiw they have walter talking in it and his family and also some of his teammates and coachs which i think is pretty cool. they talk about mostly chicago because thats where walter
