Narration To Books Crooked House
In the sprawling, half-timbered mansion in the affluent suburb of Swinly Dean, Aristide Leonides lies dead from barbiturate poisoning. An accident? Not likely. In fact, suspicion has already fallen on his luscious widow, a cunning beauty fifty years his junior, set to inherit a sizeable fortune, and rumored to be carrying on with a strapping young tutor comfortably ensconced in the family estate. But criminologist Charles Hayward is casting his own doubts on the innocence of the entire Leonides brood. He knows them intimately. And he's certain that in a crooked house such as Three Gables, no one's on the level...Rating Regarding Books Crooked House

There was a crooked manand he went a crooked mile.He found a crooked sixpencebeside a crooked stile. He had a crooked catwhich caught a crooked mouse,And they all lived togetherin a little crooked house. Crooked House is a stand-alone novel. I.e. it does not feature any of Christie's established sleuths (Marple, Poirot, Tommy & Tuppence, etc.). The story tells of a young couple, Charles and Sophia, who decide to postpone any decisions on getting married until after the war. Once the time hasAnother perfect Christie! She herself says in the introduction that this is one of her favourite stories and that she had a lot of fun writing it. She almost always keeps me guessing and this one was no exception.
Crooked House is the first Agatha Christie book I've ever read. I have seen several movies and TV series adaption and usually with Poirot or Miss Marple at the helm. This time, however, it's a stand-alone kind book without them. I didn't mind much, although I kind of missed Poirots eccentricity and Marple's ingenuity. But, the story was in itself so engrossing that I found myself quite captivated. And, WOW what an ending, so tragic and creepy. There are a lot of suspects in the book, but

I never can figure out the murderer in an Agatha Christie mystery and this case is no different. The Crooked House is a closed door mystery and also takes place with only family members as the suspects which makes it doubly interesting. A big, close knit English family whose Greek patriarch has been poisoned is the conundrum. Christie is very particular in her character sketches and knows people well which makes her Miss Marple mysteries so satisfying. This is a stand alone book, with no
EXCERPT: '.....For one thing, you don't know much about me, do you?''I don't even know where you live in England.''I live at Swinly Dean.'I nodded at the mention of the well known outer suburb of London which boasts three excellent golf courses for the city financier. She added softly in a musing voice: 'In a little crooked house.....'I must have looked slightly startled, for she seemed amused, and explained by elaborating the quotation. ' 'And they all lived together in a little crooked house.'
Another of Christies best standalone stories, a great simple premise as wealthy Aristide Leonides is found dead having been poisoned. Rather than reviving a dose of insulin the elderly entrepreneur was injected with eserine - an eye based solution. Its evident that someone has tampered with the medicine and everyone is a suspect! Yet again Christie writes great characters in a creepy setting, whilst also completely fooling me with the solution.
Crooked House, Agatha ChristieCrooked House is a work of detective fiction by Agatha Christie first published in March 1949. The action takes place in and near London in the autumn of 1947. Christie said this and Ordeal by Innocence were her favorites among her own works.Three generations of the Leonides family live together under wealthy patriarch Aristide. His first wife Marcia died; her sister Edith has cared for the household since then. His second wife is the indolent Brenda, decades his
